Irene was at the centre of two political scandals in 2010. She also ended a prominent novelist's marriage by having an affair with both participants.
Irene rang the consulting criminal Jim Moriarty, interrupting a stand off between him and Sherlock Holmes. She then visited a young woman in the British monarchy, with whom she previously had taken compromising photographs with.
Irene was in contact with Jim Moriarty. He gave her advice on how to engage with both Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. She decided it was time for action, revealing the possession of the compromising photographs to Mycroft. She ensured he knew of the considerable number and the imaginative range of photographs.
First meeting with Sherlock HolmesEdit
Knowing Sherlock had been summoned to Buckingham Palace and would soon come to see her, she spent time choosing what to wear. She eventually selected her battle dress; her code for nude.
When Sherlock arrived with his companion John Watson, Irene avoided talking about the photographs by discussing the recent death of a hiker Sherlock was investigating. The conversation was interrupted by three CIA operatives, who demanded the camera phone. With use of the phrase "Vatican cameos", the agents were dispatched of and Sherlock gained possession the camera phone. However, Irene drugged Sherlock to regain her camera phone before leaving the premises through a window.
Fake death and returnEdit
At Christmas time of the same year, she sent the phone to Sherlock at 221B Baker Street. She then faked her death by getting a body sent to the morgue of St Bartholomew's Hospital and changing the DNA records so it appeared to be hers.
On New Year's Eve, Irene summoned John to see her, unaware that Sherlock had followed him there and hence saw her alive. The next day she was found sleeping in Sherlock's bed at 221B Baker Street and she revealed the Bond Air information to Sherlock. After he told her of the plan, she texted Moriarty who let Mycroft know.
After asking Sherlock for dinner, Irene watched as he was again taken away by Plummer. She followed soon after him and met him and Mycroft at the 774 aeroplane involved in the Bond Air plan. She gave Mycroft a list of demands, saying that it would blow a hole in the wealth of the nation. However, Sherlock unlocked her phone and hence removing her bargaining weapon from use.
After these events, she was captured by terrorists in Karachi, Pakistan. She was believed to have been beheaded, though in reality Sherlock posed as her executioner and was able to save her.
Irene consulted with Jim Moriarty, particularly on the Holmes brothers. He shared information with her about the pair, also telling her his nicknames for them: Mycroft Holmes as The Iceman and Sherlock Holmes as The Virgin.
Once Sherlock decoded the information about the Bond air program, Irene sent the information to Jim Moriarty.
